Seymour and Wallbridge begin Nickel-Copper-PGE exploration programme at Wakami

VANCOUVER, April 13 /CNW/ - Seymour Exploration Corporation and Joint Venture partner Wallbridge Mining Company Limited have commenced work on the Wakami nickel-copper property located in the southwestern part of the Swayze greenstone belt in Ontario. The Wakami property covers a 2 km x 1.5 km magnetic anomaly. There is no known outcrop in the area, which is covered by a sand plain. A recent OGS publication, "Magmatic Nickel-Copper-PGE Occurrences and Ultramafic Bodies in Ontario" identifies the feature as the Wakami peridotite intrusion, on the basis of boulders found immediately south of the anomaly.
A high-resolution airborne magnetic survey was recently completed to better define the characteristics of the target magnetic feature. The magnetic data provides a clear image of the complex target anomaly which covers an area of approximately three square kilometers. These data will also be beneficial for the exploration of the surrounding area. The survey has detailed several structural features and dykes in the area which will assist in the interpretation of the structural setting.

All available information for the area including the nickel and copper soil geochemical anomalies, the presence of ultramafic boulders and the magnetic anomaly support the possible presence of an environment conducive to hosting magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE mineralization.

On the strength of the favourable indicators, the Joint Venture partners have developed a $600,000 exploration program for the property. Phase 1 of this program is scheduled to commence in early May, and will include linecutting, geological mapping and prospecting, soil geochemistry, and ground geophysics.
